All food additives are listed below by code number and by name

There are currently about 320 permitted food additives in Australia/New Zealand.

About 50 are most likely to cause adverse reactions. They are marked in RED with “AVOID”

Other Additives in ORANGE should be used, if at all, with caution. Very few of any of the additives listed have been adequately tested from the point of view of food intolerance so it is possible for individuals to react even if the additive is not shown in red.

Other additives are unlikely to cause food intolerance reactions. This includes anti-caking agents, bleaches, some emulsifiers, mineral salts, propellants, food acids, sweeteners (but see factsheet), thickening agents, vegetable gums and vitamins.
