Additive-free trials in schools
Sue and Howard Dengate have run two-week trials of additive-free eating in three NSW primary schools Palmer's Island (2005), Cooma North (2007) and Nana Glen (2007).
The results surprised the teachers, pupils and parents, and indeed ourselves. The results we saw equalled those reported in a similar trial in the UK: the parents of 60% of the children said their children had improved in behaviour, cooperation and sleeping. Teachers reported that up to 90% of the children improved in behaviour, perhaps due to the reduced disruption in the class from those directly affected by food additives.
